Advanced Hall Sensors Ltd. (AHS) was founded in 1998 as a spin - out company from the University of Manchester, UK. The Quantum Hall Effect (QHE) is exploited by AHS to produce a range of ultra - high sensitivity magnetic field (micro Tesla) sensors that exhibit a unique set of performance characteristics. These special Hall Sensors lie at the heart of a range of enabling technologies that can be applied across a diverse range of industrial and consumer led uses that include :
> Position sensing elements for industrial encoders
> Motor speed control
> Current metering
> Magnetic spatial imaging for medical / scientific instrumentation
> Bank note validation
> Mass Flow control
All AHS magnetic sensor active material is made from the III-V semiconducting compounds based on Gallium Arsenide (GaAs). Multilayer structures of these compounds are deposited to atomic layer precision by the sophisticated crystal growth technique of Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE). This growth method also ensures thin films of the compounds show less than 0.5 % variation in composition with doping profiles accurate to ppm levels. Uniformity & reproducibility of this high performance device material is exceptional by any standards.
